NEW YORK • After being blanked by Jacob deGrom for six innings, the Cardinals touched him for a run in the seventh Wednesday night when rookie Luke Voit doubled to left, scoring Kolten Wong from first to make the score 7-1.

Voit initially had been called out on a foul tip third strike but he pointed to the dirt where the ball had hit before it was corralled by catcher Travis d’Araud and first-base umpire Joe West asked for the ball from d’Arnaud, found the mark on it and tossed it out of play, restoring Voit as the hitter.
