Hold off on that next start for oft-injured Cardinals lefthander Jaime Garcia.
Having suffered a cramp near his groin while running the bases on Wednesday night in Miami, Garcia said he hadn’t been concerned even though it still was a little sore and had planned to throw a bullpen session Saturday in preparation for his next start Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox.
That session was scrapped and Garcia, at first, said he would talk to reporters “in a bit,” but then, later from the training room, declined comment.
Manager Mike Matheny, noting that Garcia still could throw that bullpen session on Sunday before Monday’s off day, also said that Garcia could miss his next turn entirely.
