CINCINNATI • In what appeared to be an attempt to get him through the fifth inning so he'd qualify for a win that his line didn't deserve, Jaime Garcia started the fifth inning. He could not finish it.
The Cardinals' lefty had one of his oddest and least successful starts in at least a year, and still because of a home run by Brandon Moss was able to leave the game to the bullpen with a 6-5 lead.
Garcia allowed five runs on 13 hits. He walked only one batter. He didn't fool any of them.
