After four weeks of the season, righthander Carlos Martinez has accounted for four of the Cardinals’ 12 wins. Lefthander Kevin Siegrist is next with three wins. But Siegrist is a reliever.
That means the rest of the club has five wins and one of those also came from a reliever, Seung Hwan Oh.
Michael Wacha has pitched well in winning two games. Jaime Garcia has pitched fairly well in winning one, Adam Wainwright not as well in winning one and Mike Leake hasn’t been awful but he has no wins.
On a club for which the power quotient has picked up, the bullpen is as solid as anticipated and the defense has been less stellar than expected, the up-and-down nature of the starting pitching might be the biggest buzz.
