Jaime Garcia’s evaluation of his evening at Busch Stadium was as short and succinct as his opponent Doug Fister’s success there.
Houston’s starter, the righthanded Fister, set the pace for a 2-hour, 18-minute game and a 5-2 victory for his Astros with 7 1/3 brisk innings. Former Cardinals prospect Colby Rasmus homered off Garcia to break a 1-1 tie and send Houston toward an interleague win Tuesday at Busch Stadium, and Fister added two RBIs to assure it. What Fister did as the Astros won his ninth consecutive start was test the Cardinals with persistent strikes and swift outs.
