In another deja vu moment from the recent series in Philadelphia, a Cardinals baserunner took off on contact with one out and ran so far from his base that a caught ball turned into a double play and another out on the base paths.
With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, Jose Martinez lined a ball into right field. Stephen Piscotty, who stood on first by virtue of an infield single, took off toward second base without a glance to where the ball was headed. Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco made a diving catch, and by that time Piscotty was standing at third.
