In his first start of the season, Cardinals catcher Eric Fryer extended his hitting streak with a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The backup catcher's shot to center was the pivotal hit in the Cardinals' 4-3 win over the Reds at Busch Stadium on Sunday.
Closer Trevor Rosenthal entered in the ninth and made the save. Reliever Kevin Siegrist got the win.
Fryer is now six-for-six in 2016. The last Cardinal to start five-for-five was Eli Marrero in 2002.
The Cardinals (7-5) host the Cubs for a three-game series that starts Monday.
