MIAMI • The Cardinals’ outfield present and future became intertwined in the ninth inning Tuesday night as the Cardinals completed an improbable comeback to snatch a 6-5 win from the Miami Marlins.
Their fifth straight win, all on this trip, enabled the Cardinals to remain in first place in the National League Central Division for a second straight day.
With one out in the ninth, speed burner Magneuris Sierra, three days removed from Class A, slashed a grounder off the glove of pitcher A.J. Ramos, who hustled after the ball and then chucked it over the head of first baseman Justin Bour as Sierra took second.
