Flaherty, working seven scoreless innings, went that long for the first time since Aug. 28. He set down the Cincinnati Reds 5-2 Sunday at Busch Stadium to give the Cardinals their third series victory in three series on the stand. Flaherty permitted just four hits while walking one and striking out four.

Flaherty, who walked 59 in 151 innings last year, has passed only five in his last five starts, covering 26 2/3 innings.
