JUPITER, Fla. • Field #2 will be the focus of the first day of pitchers facing hitters at Cardinals spring training as the regulars take the field officially for the first time on Monday morning.
New acquisition Paul Goldschmidt will hit in a group with Yadier Molina, Matt Carpenter, Jedd Gyorko, Jose Martinez and Paul DeJong on Field 2 against four pitchers, featuring Brett Cecil, trying to rebound from a troubled 2018. Dakota Hudson, Mike Mayers and Jake Woodford also will face hitters on that field although the hitters might not necessarily be swinging all the time against pitchers but tracking pitches instead.
