ATLANTA — As former Cardinals and fondly remembered Cardinals made their visits to Busch Stadium this season, either as an opponent or part of a reunion, some of the newest Cardinals took note of the ovations players received. Albert Pujols, the future Hall of Famer, was applauded at every at-bat, but so too were players who didn’t win armfuls of awards, didn’t break records, didn’t make All-Star teams or didn’t stay all that long in St. Louis.
Veterans such as lefty Andrew Miller and Paul Goldschmidt connected the dots and described in recent interviews what stood out to them.
