PHILADELPHIA • The Cardinals made enough errors to put themselves and starting pitcher Michael Wacha in a bind early, but if they’ve learned anything in these profitable gatherings with the worst team in the league, it’s this: Just wait.
The Phillies are capable of worse.
The Cardinals hit four home runs and got the benefit of a balk, an error and aggressively awful baserunning to rally from a five-run deficit and win 7-6 in the 10th inning Wednesday. Tommy Pham hit the game-tying home run in the top of the ninth, and he threw out the would-be winning run at the plate in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings.
