PITTSBURGH •_Puerto Rican native Eduardo Perez, a former Cardinal player and now an ESPN telecaster, has seen the Cardinals’ top draft pick play and applauds the club’s choice of 17-year-old Puerto Rican shortstop Delvin Perez, (no relation) despite the latter’s having tested positive for a steroid.
“He made a mistake,” said E. Perez. “He’s 17 years old. H needs to mature. A lot. He’s a little showboat(ish). That’s OK. What do you expect of him at that age?
