In the sixth round of the draft the Cardinals have selected their first high schooler and their first player ranked in MLB.com's top 200 prospects.
Lefty catcher Zach Jackson, from Winter Haven High School in central Florida, is the 133rd prospect according to MLB.com and the 182nd prospect according to Baseball America.
Jackson is prized more for his hitting than his defense. While he has struggled with his strikeout rate, Jackson intrigues because of his raw power. He has shown strong arm strength but poor agility and below-average receiving behind the plate.
Should Jackson decline to sign with the Cardinals, he is committed to the University of Florida.
