LOS ANGELES • If the Cardinals are going to get a foothold on this season and maintain their run of contending summers, they’ve already shown they’ll have to do it with a style markedly different than the 100-win blitz of last season.
So far they’ve exchanged more power for less effective starting pitching, had more hiccups on defense than usual, and found those signature low-scoring games not nearly as kind.
