PHILADELPHIA • The Cardinals have staged a minor uprising here throuhg 5 1/2 innings that has tightened the game and nearly, nearly helped them overcome the fielding errors from earlier.
Jedd Gyorko lofted a two-run homer into the right-field seats to give the Phillies pause and the Cardinals a 5-3 deficit at Citizens Bank Park.
Before that Phillies righthander Nick Pivetta was relatively cruising, with the exception of a solo homer from Tommy Pham. Pivetta got his 10th strikeout of the game when he caught Matt Carpenter looking to open the sixth inning. It is Pivetta's first career double-digit strikeout night.
