Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said he had suspected for some time that the Cardinals’ scheduled series with the Chicago Cubs in London on June 13-14 was in jeopardy because of the world-wide coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday, Major League Baseball made it official but DeWitt told the Post-Dispatch that the Cardinals would like to be involved again, if offered the chance.
“It just appeared that (the series) was not going to be a possibility,” DeWitt said. “I’ve assumed that for a little bit here but that’s just part of what’s going on in the world.
“Hopefully, whether it’s next year or some future year we can do it again.
