While their rivals were at the White House showing off their World Series trophy to President Barrack Obama on Monday, Cardinals owner Bill DeWitt Jr. acknowledged that the rivalry with the Cubs has intensified now that there is a title on the north side of Chicago.
Despite the young Cubs’ first World Series title since 1908, however, DeWitt vows to maintain the same approach that has proved so key to the Cardinals' long-term success under his ownership.
“We try to compete every year, and I think some clubs take a little different approach,” DeWitt Jr. said before signing autographs at the Cardinals’ Winter Warmup.
