LOS ANGELES • It took a wild pitch from the best lefthander in baseball to do late, late Tuesday night what the Cardinals could not before it and would not again after it, even with a few extra innings to try.
Randal Grichuk scored from second on Clayton Kershaw’s dirt-kissed slider to knot a game, 1-1, and force extra innings. That run, produced with Grichuk’s legs and not bat, was the only run the Cardinals got as the Los Angeles Dodgers lost Kershaw’s gem but won the game, 2-1, in the 13th inning at Dodger Stadium.
