The Cardinals and Cubs are off to another feisty start at Busch Stadium.
Following Kris Bryant's double-play grounder in the top of the first inning, Cardinals starter Michael Wacha hit Cubs' first baseman Anthony Rizzo with a pitch in the thigh. Rizzo threw his bat in disgust before slowly making his way to first base. Ben Zobrist popped out to end the inning.
On Tuesday night, the Cubs' Felix Pena drilled Cardinals' outfielder Tommy Pham in the sixth, prompting an icy stare. Before Wednesday's game, Pham said Pena's pitch was “definitely on purpose.... I'm going to remember it.
