Aside from that, Memphis put together an all-around great game. Three other Redbirds (Drew Robinson, John Nogowski, Rangel Ravelo) went yard and Jake Woodford turned in seven scoreless innings.
Memphis had some trouble putting the Sounds away, surrendering three runs in the final two innings, but nothing that would warrant concern for a comeback attempt.
Jesus Cruz pitched the eighth and gave up one run, Chris Beck gave up two in the ninth.
