Scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth to push their lead to 8-3 proved to be crucial for the Redbirds. The Missions responded with four runs of their own in the top of the ninth but Memphis stopped them before they could achieve a complete comeback.
Adolis Garcia hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to give Memphis a 4-3 lead after entering the frame trailing 3-0.
