CHICAGO • If the Cardinals came to Wrigley Field for their first ever visit this late in the season expecting to contend with an ace, they left Monday having been felled by a full-blown gust of philosophy.
A Chicago Cubs team built around power flexed it in Game 3 of the National League division series and put the Cardinals one loss away from elimination at the hands of their archrival. The Cubs hit a major-league record six home runs off four different Cardinals pitchers and pulled away with an 8-6 victory Monday at a packed Friendly Confines.
