A lot of times, baseball can be weird. Weird to the point where one could see something only once no matter how long they’ve followed the game. The seventh inning of the Cardinals’ 6-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays was one of those times.
In the top of the inning, Toronto utility man Chris Coghlan stood at first base when Kevin Pillar lined a ball to right field. Coghlan, who reached on a pinch-hit walk, immediately took off from first, and as he ran around the bases all he could think of was trying to score.
“I lost a lot of momentum coming around second, I had to just scrape second with my cleat because I lost momentum going forward,” Coghlan said.
