Allen Craig’s three homers among his five hits in the World Series unquestionably contributed to the Cardinals winning their 11th Series title in 2011. But Craig, not renowned for his glove, said the most fun he had in that Series came on defense.
“Catching the final out,” he said. “To be out in left field and to be a part of that moment — with one out left to close out the whole thing ... that was pretty cool. Hearing the crowd chant, ‘Let’s go, Cards,’ and to have Jason (Motte) on the mound, it was an incredible moment to have that ball come my way and close out an amazing story for an amazing team and an amazing group of teammates.
