There’s a strong likelihood that Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will use the same lineup Wednesday night that he trotted out Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies at Busch Stadium.
“You know ... it’s an option,” conceded Matheny.
A configuration featuring Matt Carpenter hitting second in the order — the first time in 330 starts that he had batted anywhere but leadoff — accounted for a season-high in runs and hits in an 11-5 romp past the Phillies before 40,143 paid customers.
Everybody in the new-look lineup seemed at ease in his role as the Cardinals had 15 hits and coaxed six walks.
