Hall of Famer Orlando “Cha Cha” Cepeda, the National League’s Most Valuable Player in 1967, will be one of the headliners on Jan. 15 at the 59th annual St. Louis Baseball Writers’ dinner at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel.
The occasion will mark the 50th anniversary of the championship run by “El Birdos,” and among those from that team slated to be on hand are Hall of Fame players Bob Gibson and Lou Brock Hall of Fame manager Red Schoendienst; catcher Tim McCarver, who in is the broadcast wing of the Hall of Fame; longtime Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon, the third baseman on that club; outfielders Bobby Tolan and Ted Savage and pitcher Dick Hughes and Larry Jaster.
