The Cardinals caught _ and almost passed _ the Milwaukee Brewers in the fourth inning Sunday at Busch Stadium after the Brewers had gone ahead in their half of the inning.
Matt Carpenter’s two-out single scored Tommy Pham, who had drawn one of two walks the Cardinals coaxed in the inning off Chase Anderson. Aledmys Diaz, who already had one home run, bid for another but left fielder Ryan Braun made a jumping catch at the track to keep the score at 2-2.
BREWERS DOUBLE UP
The Milwaukee Brewers’ last 14 hits over three days had been singles before Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Ramon Flores stroked back-to-back doubles in the fourth inning to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
