Carpenter takes NL HR lead with 29th blast

PITTSBURGH -- Matt Carpenter moved in front of Nolan Arenado for the National League lead with his 29th home run of the season in the fifth inning of Sunday's game at PNC Park. The 363-foot blast off Pittsburgh's Trevor Williams broke a scoreless game and started a two-run inning for St. Louis.

The home run extended Carpenter's on-base streak to 24 games, the longest active streak in the Majors. He also now leads MLB with 19 road homers and 25 solo home runs. The reigning NL Player of the Month has homered in all three games of this series and has 12 home runs in his last 20 games.
