Carpenter still out, Molina returns; Pirates' Marte suspended 80 games

After being a late scratch from Monday's game with a bruised finger, Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter is out of the lineup again Tuesday.

Carpenter injured the ring finger on his throwing hand when he tried to field a ground ball against the Yankees on Sunday.

Jose Martinez will get a second straight start at first base with Carpenter out against the Pirates. Martinez went 1-for-3 in Monday's 2-1 win with an RBI single that produced the deciding run.

With Carpenter out, outfielder Stephen Piscotty will again hit third and Randal Grichuk will bat fourth.

Third baseman Jhonny Peralta is out for the third straight day.
