Carpenter, Piscotty homer to put Cards up 4-3

Down 3-0, the Cardinals turned things around in the third inning they way they usually have lately, with the long ball.

Matt Carpenter and Stephen Piscotty each hit two-run homers in the third as the Cardinals took a 4-3 lead on the Brewers at Busch Stadium.

Jimmy Nelson had retired the first eight Cardinals he had faced before Carlos Martinez singled up the middle, just past the shortstop Orlando Arcia. Carpenter then hit a towering blast to right, estimated at 392 feet, to cut the lead to 3-2. It was 19th home run of the season for Carpenter.
