Carpenter gets start at second base for night cap

CHICAGO • Cardinals' infielder Matt Carpenter, an All-Star in his first year as a starter at second base, will return to the position made him a regular in the lineup Tuesday night against the Cubs.

With Kolten Wong out because of concussion concerns stemming from an injury in the first game of the day-night doubleheader, Carpenter moves to second to keep the rest of the lineup mostly intact. The outfield from the first game of the day -- a loss to the Cubs -- will return just as it was for the afternoon. That puts Tommy Pham in left field and plants Carpenter at second.
