ST. LOUIS -- Having cleared the way for the kids with a flurry of transactions over the past week, the Cardinals watched that future shine in the present while collectively leading the Cardinals past the Rockies, 6-3, at Busch Stadium on Wednesday.
Rookie outfielders Harrison Bader and Tyler O'Neill sparked the go-ahead rally, and a run of five rookie relievers bailed out Luke Weaver, who, with 40 career starts, was the most experienced arm the Cardinals sent to the mound all night.
Inefficiency knocked Weaver out with the Cardinals trailing, 2-0, in the third.
