There could be a new member of the Cardinals’ dugout when they reach postseason next month, one that has instant recall of statistics, matchups, and other scouting data, all at the touch of a finger: an iPad.
The Cardinals are one team that accepted Major League Baseball’s invitation to bring an iPad into the dugout for use, with strict restraints, during games. An iPad was in the dugout Tuesday for the players and coaches to use – spray charts were a few swipes away – and some did, manager Mike Matheny confirmed after the 3-1 victory at Busch Stadium.
