The Cardinals already have a closer who has had 30 or more saves in a year in righthander Trevor Rosenthal, who has done it the last two years. Righthander Jordan Walden, who had 32 saves for the Los Angeles Angels in 2011, will be back from his injury rehabilitation (right shoulder) probably a week from now.
Lefthander Kevin Siegrist already has saved four games this season. And, added to the potential closer’s mix beginning Saturday will be righthander Steve Cishek, a 6-foot-6 righthander who had 34 and 39 saves, respectively, the last two years with the Miami Marlins, who dealt him to the Cardinals on Friday for Class AA righthander Kyle Barraclough.
