Cards take Plummer in first round of MLB Draft

ST. LOUIS • With the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Nick Plummer, an outfielder from Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Plummer, a 5-foot-11 left-handed hitter, was originally committed to play at the University of Kentucky. He was the 11th overall prospect entering the draft according to Baseball America.

Plummer is also the first first-round pick from Michigan since David Parrish was picked in 2000. He's also the third Michigan high school player taken in the top five rounds this century.

The Cardinals have the 39th overall pick in competitive balance round A and the 66th overall pick in the second round.
