Cards score three in third, cut deficit to 4-3

MIAMI • Marlins righthander Tom Koehler, who had sailed through the first two innings, fanning four Cardinals, suddenly had a control lapse, a costly one, in the third.

Koehler walked Magneuris Sierra, hit Kolten Wong in the right foot and walked Mat Carpenter. With two out, Jedd Gyorko singled to right, scoring Sierra and Wong, with Carpenter making third. Yadier Molina then drilled a single over the head of a ducking Koehler and it was 4-3. The inning ended when shortstop Dee Gordon knocked down Aledmys Diaz’s smash and forced Molina at second.
