The Cardinals and first baseman/outfielder Brandon Moss reportedly avoided arbitration on Friday, agreeing to a one-year, $8.25 million contract, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman. The club has not confirmed the deal.
Moss, who made $6.5 million last season, is in his final season of arbitration eligibility and is on track to reach free agency next winter. The Cardinals acquired the 32-year-old from the Indians last July 30, and he played in 51 games for them down the stretch, mostly at first and in left field.
