Cards' rally falls short as Angels win finale of Pujols-fest

It was a two-run game at the time and the home team trailed, and still the thought of Pujols’ last swing being a grand slam kept people on their feet.

“It gives you the perspective of how great a career he really had, what he meant to this city,” said shortstop Paul DeJong of watching a visiting player circle the bases to applause. “Just imagine trying to play up to that level. Being able to see that makes you lock-in more. It makes you want to play up to his level.”

Pujols and the Angels avoided a sweep Sunday night when the Cardinals helped usher them to a 6-4 victory at Busch Stadium.
