CHICAGO • First it was a trainer out to check on Lance Lynn.
A batter later it was Mike Matheny out to remove him.
Lynn didn't complete the fourth inning of this afternoon's game at Wrigley Field, though he did get better after a rocky first innings. Lynn pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits and six walks. The walks are the most alarming part of his outing, and there could any number of reasons for them. Lynn has had walk issues before. Lynn has had a blister on his finger that makes it difficult to command his fastball, and he usually only throws fastballs.
