ST. LOUIS • Another day, another dent to the roster.
The Cardinals placed reliever Matt Belisle on the disabled list Tuesday afternoon with inflammation in his right elbow. To take Belisle's place in the bullpen, the Cardinals promoted righthanded reliever Marcus Hatley, one of the final cuts from the major-league camp in spring training.
The Cardinals had to make room on the 40-man roster for Hatley so they placed reliever Jordan Walden on the 60-day disabled list.
The move is mostly cosmetic.
It does not change when Walden can be activated, nor does it inhibit Walden's ability to go out on a rehab assignment around the All-Star break, if not sooner.
