Cards' Plummer, 19, makes stellar play, drives in run

JUPITER, Fla. • Nineteen-year-old Nick Plummer, the Cardinals’ top draft choice last year, was nicked in the hand by a pitch in his first at-bat wearing a big-league uniform when he batted in the third inning of Sunday's exhibition game with the Washington Nationals. He then was cut down stealing second.

But Plummer made the defensive play of the game in the fifth. Ranging backward on Jose Lobaton’s wind-aided drive to right, Plummer made a tumbling catch at the warning track and drew many “high fives” from his teammates-for-a-day when he came into the dugout after his inning-ending play.
