HOUSTON -- The rash of injuries continues for the Cardinals, who placed right-handed reliever Seth Maness on the disabled list on Tuesday ahead of their series opener in Houston. Right-hander Sam Tuivailala was recalled from Triple-A Memphis to take Maness' spot on the active roster.
With the move, which is retroactive to Sunday, the Cards have now placed a dozen players on the DL since the start of July.
Maness has already been on the DL once this season due to right elbow issues, but he had pitched well since returning on June 18.
