He allowed one run while allowing seven hits and one walk in six innings of a 5-1 win over the Washington Nationals on May 1 and followed up by beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 May 6 in his most recent start. Over seven innings, he allowed three hits and no walks while striking out a season-best five.
Lyles, a veteran who reached the majors with Houston in 2011 at age 20, also pitched for Colorado, San Diego and Milwaukee before joining Pittsburgh this season.
