Cards notes: Piscotty putting on a show for family, friends

SAN FRANCISCO • One of the things the Cardinals coaches have learned about rookie Stephen Piscotty in his 35 games in the majors is his ability to intelligently deconstruct a pitcher and modify his approach, pitcher to pitcher, situation to situation. But when manager Mike Matheny found him during batting practice Friday, the approach he wanted to discuss had nothing to do with Piscotty at the plate.

It had everything to do with the Piscottys in the crowd.

In his first visit as a big-leaguer to his native Bay Area, the Cardinals rookie had as many as 60 people attend Friday’s game and another 40 see Saturday’s.
