Cards notebook: Bullpen dominant; Carpenter hot, Ozuna and Pham heating up

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. • Starter Adam Wainwright was impressive enough for the Cardinals on Wednesday. The four pitchers who succeeded him virtually were unhittable.

Piggy-backing five scoreless innings by five relievers on Tuesday, four Cardinals relievers closed out the 3-1 win over Houston by allowing just three singles, two to the outfield, striking out nine and walking no one over the final four innings.

Dominic Leone allowed one hit and struck out two. Tyler Lyons struck out all three men he faced. Ryan Sherriff allowed an infield hit and struck out one. Sam Tuivailala permitted a leadoff single and then fanned the side.
