ST. LOUIS • As they look for a way to add offense and a versatile infielder to the roster, the Cardinals have maintained interest in Ben Zobrist, one of the most coveted free agents in the market who will have a variety of teams and roles to choose from as offers crystallize this winter.
The Cardinals have reached out to express interest in Zobrist, CBS Sports reported Wednesday morning. The club also had conversation about Zobrist and with his representative earlier this month at or around the GM meetings.
The report, by Jon Heyman, said "as many as 20 teams (are) in the mix" for Zobrist.
