The Cardinals placed him on the 10-day disabled list to give him at least a week of rest and make him available when rosters expand Sept. 1. If he requires more significant treatment, that will follow in the offseason.
Placing Ozuna on the DL was part of a series of moves for the Cardinals on Wednesday that added two left fielders to the active roster. Yairo Munoz was brought back from his wrist injury and started in Ozuna’s place Wednesday night. Matt Adams, acquired Tuesday from Washington via a waiver claim, was also added to the roster, and pitcher Daniel Poncedeleon was optioned to Class AAA Memphis.
