Cards have just three hits, lose 2-0

JUPITER, Fla. • Nothing wrong with the Cardinals’ pitching on Friday.

Starter Adam Wainwright was efficient, although allowing two runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen, which should be one of the strengths of the club, was spotless over the last 4 1/3 innings as Tyler Lyons, Jonathan Broxton, Jordan Walden and Jeremy Hefner combined to permit just three hits.

But the offense also delivered just three hits (over nine innings), one of them a bunt by Matt Adams, in a 2-0 exhibition loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Yadier Molina, swinging the bat for the first time against big-league pitching this spring, bounced out twice and, after fouling off several pitches in his third at-bat, flied to deep left.
