The Cardinals’ Hall of Fame family has taken a hit in the last few years with the death of Stan Musial in 2013, Red Schoendienst last year and the varied medical struggles of Lou Brock. On Saturday, Hall of Fame righthander Bob Gibson, generally acknowledged as the greatest Cardinals pitcher of all time, sent a letter to the living Hall of Famers informing them that he was battling pancreatic cancer.
